The history of beer is almost as old as human history, and it would be quite true to say that our love affair with the stuff has only grown with modern brewing practices. Given beer’s pervasive place in human history, it’s not surprising that the geeky pastimes of drinkers would eventually rub off on the beers themselves. The result is a veritable cornucopia of nerdy beers, from Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and a few others that fit in quite nicely with your nerdy lifestyle. Like Pizza Beer — it’s more efficient than eating both separately! So sit back, crack open a cold one, and enjoy this astounding and some times mouthwatering collection.

    Maple Bacon beer is also much better than they purport here. I heard mixed reviews so when i tasted it i came in with lower expectations; however i was pleasantly surprised by the complexity. It would pair GREAT with a pancake breakfast

    That’s really interesting to hear because every single review I saw panned it. Even the Rogue brewery guys seemed kinda cagey about it, going off what I read. It’s nice to hear that someone liked it because it seems like such a fun idea!

    It is, it’s way too overpowering.  Had to try it once, and that was enough for me.

    I can’t say I’ve tried the Rouge voodoo beer but in general Rouge makes some really good beers.. The voodoo doughnut one was a special promo beer made for a local doughnut shop based in Portland, OR by the same name. Their signature doughnut is a raspberry jelly filled chocolate bar made to look like a voodoo doll so when you bite into it the jelly oozes out like blood.. But another they have that’s really popular that seems to be copied a lot around the PNW since(although I’m sure they’re not the first) is the maple bacon bar. which has fresh cooked bacon on top of a basic maple bar pretty damn tasty… I think I’d rather have just a normal beer with the doughnut then actually have it flavored that way… I’m sure it is gross..

    So yeah, beyond doing a slideshow, whatever drunken idiot who designed this ‘tour’ managed to be the first person in my history who actually thought it was a good idea to place the “next page” anchor in the middle of the url and as the last loading element of a fucking slideshow. The beer reviews, I’m sorry to say, managed to get overshadowed by this display of unbelievable goddamned retardation. I appreciated it at one level in that I sometimes, through lack of exposure, tend to forget just how god fucking awful almost everyone who isn’t me tends to be, and it’s encounters like this that help remind me not to ever, ever consider the advice of strangers for anything, ever, because they are IDIOTS!

    Who says Alt + Ctrl + Delete?  The only way I’ve heard is “Ctrl + Alt + Delete”.  That beer gets 50 thumbs down.

    I saw another beer called “CTRL + ALT + DELETE” the other day, so maybe they were avoiding cribbing the name? Or maybe they just wanted to play up how “alt” they are.

    Ya the mixed I read the mixed reviews and was surprisingly pleased. I should have had it with breakfast, instead I had it with a maple bar. Either way, I would have it again

    That totally depends on your definition of “good.”  If you want your beer to taste like gross, fake pizza combos and oregano, you’ll love it.

    Well I live in Oregon where VooDoo and Rouge reside and have never been let down by either of them. I will be on a search for this magnificent combination from this day forth.

    Geeky beers…I’ve run across a lot of geeky things, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen beers turn geek. Hats off to you, good sir.

    The maple bacon beer is pretty bad, I’ve had two bottles of it.  Hoptimus prime is a decent IPA that really only sells because of its name.

    Monty Python’s Holy Ail isn’t bad, but it’s not the best of Black Sheep’s brews.  Damned hard to find compared to their other stuff, too.  I’ve never seen it outside of their brewery shop.
