Creative Suite 5 Announced by Adobe: Mindbending Photoshop CS5 on the Way

Recommended Videos

This morning, Adobe announced the coming release of the eagerly-awaited Creative Suite 5, which is available for preorder on their website and is expected to ship within 30 days. This means, among other things, that Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash Catalyst are getting their CS5 dues.

In the words of Adobe’s CTO, Kevin Lynch, “CS5 consists of 15 industry-leading applications, which contain hundreds of new capabilities and a ton of innovation;” partisans of different Adobe apps will find different things to get excited about here. One change that’s eliciting a largely positive response among tech types is Flash CS5’s limited support for HTML5: Now, you’ll be able to export animations from Flash to HTML5, courtesy of HTML5 Canvas exporting tools.

“But what about the pretty things?” you ask. Well, need we remind you of Photoshop CS5’s mindbending new content-aware fill?

At 11am EDT, Adobe will be hosting a web preview of the goods, with four “Adobe evangelists” [Terry White, Greg Rewis, Jason Levine, and Julieanne Kost] demoing CS5 applications in design, web, video, and photography, respectively.
