The Psychological Appeal of Angry Birds [Infographic]

Market research firm Ask Your Target Market decided to delve deep into the Angry Birds phenomenon and perform a some market research to put together this informative infographic as to why the suicide-bird game is so popular and addictive. Among various other interesting tidbits, they found that people play Angry Birds 200 million minutes per day, which is equal to game play every hour of every day for 16 years. The team also found what mood the game puts people in, as well as how addicted people feel they are to the admittedly somewhat OCD-style knock-down-all-the-things game play. They also found that there is no known cure for addiction to the game, but I will personally proscribe some better games, and you should be right as rain come morning. Read on below to see the full infographic, and learn why you can’t stop throwing birds at pigs.

    nice
I just got a $829.99 iPåd2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.
    I use BÏDFiRsT. COM

I’m going to have to call shenanigans on the numbers used at least for some parts of this; on installed-devices, how can Apple products add up to 86% (not 76% as noted) while the rest apparently go for 72%? Counting users with it installed on more than one platform? Not really all that useful, and skews the numbers all over the place, given that an iPhone/iPad/Mac user would count for triple-value.
Wouldn’t seem so slapdash and hinky if it was a listing of the primary platform used to play it.

And yeah, Scorched Earth was great… hopefully they’ll add a lava-fill bird in one of the next monetization increases. Er, ‘updates’. :)
