It isn't that the story is simple, it is that it doesn't make any sense. Any company in the history of the world would have just used a slant-mine. Bingo, there is no story. Or they'd have just killed the natives, rather than invest millions into this absurd Avatar program. No business man in their right mind would have wasted all of that time, effort and most of all money on something that stupid. The movie was written by someone who can't understand how a business works. That's why it's a bad film, it's all rotten reasons for doing things, all of the basic motivations don't work. I just never got around to seeing it until I had transcoded the DVD and watched it on my Droid. But now I will likely be going to see it in 3D in the theatrical re-release.
