We Don’t See You, Avatar: Hurt Locker Takes Best Picture
by Robert Quigley | 12:16 am, March 8th, 2010
Well, the Avatar avalanche didn’t happen. Of the nine awards Avatar was nominated for, it only won three: Best Art Direction, Best Achievement in Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.
The two juiciest prizes, Best Picture and Best Director, went to Avatar‘s Academy Award stalking-horse, The Hurt Locker, directed by James Cameron‘s deserving ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow.
It’s been an exciting night! We’ll have more Oscars thoughts and commentary tomorrow, when we get over our pain at District 9‘s snubbing.
