We’ve written about some truly great, and large, LEGO models here on Geekosystem, but this enormous 19 foot tall Saturn V rocket from Ryan McNaught is definitely raising the bar. Of course, that’s not too surprising if you consider he has one of the coolest job titles in the world: Certified LEGO professional (one of only 13 in the world). His model lovingly recreates the American moon rocket in some 120,000 pieces, complete with the iconic red launch tower and the astrovan used to ferry astronauts to their rides. Even more amazing is the fact that McNaught also modeled the rocket’s internal fuel tanks. Truly, this is a wonder to behold.

It looks as if unofficial video game versions of Monopoly are becoming a fad. I could not be more pleased. When I first saw Fallout Monopoly, I thought it was the coolest Monopoly ever, though I’ll admit, that’s not much of a feat. Tommy LeRoy must have thought it was cool too, because it inspired him to design and build a Mass Effect Monopoly game. A lot of the replacements are perfect, the train stations are Mass Relays and Jail is “Dead in Space.” I really hope this trend continues, although what better franchises could you pick after Fallout besides Mass Effect? Maybe StarCraft, although I’d really like to see a Mechwarrior Monopoly. Or Commander Keen. I doubt that’ll ever happen though. Maybe that’s for the best.

One of the biggest problems with the original Assassin’s Creed was that Altair was one-dimensional and, frankly, kind of a jerk. It made him pretty impossible to relate to or root for, which made the whole game kind of a slog. But now, that’s all paid off, because it makes Altair singing and dancing to a musical number one of the very best things. Like ever. He’s got poise, he’s got grace, and he’ll stab you in the face. Seriously though, this Random Encounter production feels like it should have been one of the songs in Aladdin or something. Can we get a whole Assassin’s Creed musical? Please?

AT&T has spent months trying to convince the U.S. government to allow their $39 billion takeover of T-Mobile to go ahead. Along the way, the Telecom giants have argued the necessity of the merger, saying that the demands put upon the companies exceed the available wireless bandwidth allotted to them. However, the merger had several critics who said that merging the two companies would stifle competition. Today, AT&T announced that it was ceasing its bid for T-Mobile.

Before Steve Jobs opted to give himself a minimalist uniform of jeans and a turtleneck, before the lowercase “i” nomenclature became standard at the computing company, Apple had a line of clothing for its staff to peruse. The above image is just a tiny taste of the incredible 1986 collection, demonstrating that beneath a sideways sweater and joyful yellow lunch pail lurks the mind of a heartless corporate raider. The ad copy is about as hilarious as the imagery, for instance, one description of a sweatshirt begins with, “After a rough day windsurfing…”

The Cleveland AAF (American Advertising Federation), in a bid to be clever about drawing attention to canned food donations, set up a competition to see who could build the best castle of canned goods. The castles were to later be deconstructed and donated to local food banks. Melamed Riley, in a bid to be clever about building a castle of canned goods, built a White Castle of canned goods and won. Not only is that 400 cans that wound up donated to charity also there has now been a White Castle replica made of cans. We can cross that one off our bucket list as a species.

Simply not satisfied with merely making a regular chest of drawers for the children’s playroom, Instructables user Makendo decided to use the iconic Rubik’s Cube as inspiration. The result is a colorful three-drawer tower with spinning sections and a reconfigurable color scheme.

While the tower doesn’t completely mimic a Rubik’s Cube, it does have some mind-bending tricks. Using some Lazy Susan bearings, the drawer levels can spin independently. Each of the colored panels is made of painted plywood with a dowel and magnet on the reverse side, so the cube can be “scrambled” and “solved” with remarkable ease. Also, the drawers themselves are carefully hidden, making simply getting the thing open a challenge. This is compounded by the drawer locks hidden behind certain panels.
