Gigantic Steampunk Nerf Gun, Goliathon

This humongous gun isn’t quite some prop for a well-funded fan film, it’s a Nerf Vulcan, modified with the go-to theme of steampunk. Four gauges, copper piping, brass embellishments, and a solid metal wheel valve were added to the already decked out base gun. The fun is two-and-a-half feet long, and unfortunately doesn’t fire, but if you dig the aesthetic of a humongous rad steampunk gun over your fireplace, bed, or toilet, you can head on over to Etsy and shell out $350 to complete your steampunk toilet mantlepiece. Check out more pictures of the well-modified gun after the jump.

Check Out This Awesome Steampunk Nerf Sniper Rifle

There’s something about Nerf that just screams to be steampunkified. While dials, pressure gauges, and brass accessories look awesome when you bolt them to just about anything, the pneumatic nature of a Nerf gun just makes them fit extra perfectly. Modder vansbangerburger seems to agree and took the time to steampunk up his own Nerf rifle not only with the standard valves, dials, and accessories but also with the ingenious, subtle addition of spray-painted K’nex gears which just makes so much sense now that I’ve seen it in practice. I’ll bet you want to play a steampunk FPS now, don’t you?

Jörg Sprave Makes the Kabuto Slingshot from One Piece a Reality [Video]

Jörg Sprave, the mad genius millionaire and slingshot maker, certainly refuses to get stale. After building slingshot cannons, and more recently a slew of zombie killing devices, he’s turned to comic books for inspiration. His latest creation is the Kabuto, a slingshot staff featured prominently in the One Piece series. Of course, in the hands of Sprave it’s not just a slingshot: It’s a throwing spear, a stabbing weapon, a zombie-grabber, and a slingshot!

Tactical Coffee Mug Lets You Fit All Your Gun Accessories on your Coffee Mug

There are coffee mugs and then there are coffee mugs that you can attach firearm accessories to. The OPMOD Battle Mug is obviously in the latter category. Carved from a single piece of T6 aluminum, the Battle Mug provides a versatile and durable vehicle for beverage quaffing. But the main draw is the three Mil-Spec 1913 scope rails, which allow you to fit just about any laser sight, night vision, or other accessory you’d like to your drinking device. It even includes an AR-15 handle, for when drinking coffee from a ceramic mug just isn’t manly enough. That’s all well and good, but can it fit one of these?

Full-Size LEGO Halo Sniper Rifle is Impressive

There’s a surprisingly strong tradition of LEGO guns, and a growing tradition (I hope) of LEGO guns from video games. Doing his part to contribute to the trend is Nick Jenson, who built this huge, heavy, impressive LEGO version of the SRS 99 Anti-Matériel sniper rifle from Halo: Reach. Now, I always preferred the Battle Rifle (and not the DMR), but I can respect Nick’s devotion to the sniper, devotion that yeilded this 10.5 pound, 63-inch long replica.

As far as I can tell, this build doesn’t actually do anything, but it’s pretty impressive as is. It just blows me away that people are actually able to find all the LEGOs they need to build these things. On the one hand, I’m glad this trend has seemed to stay with crazy-devoted do-it-yourself-ers, but on the other, I would buy a kit for the M-8 Avenger in a heartbeat.

Cameras Track Where Girls Look First: Butt, Crotch, Biceps or Eyes [Video]

Thinkmodo, the people you can thank for iPad Head Girl, have embarked on another weird-but-kind-of-interesting ad campaign for the iPad-only magazine Cosmo For Guys. Here’s the setup: First you get yourself a guy and wire him up with 4 cameras, one on the glasses, one on the butt, one on the bicep and one on the crotch. Then, you wire them all to record to HD DVRs in his backpack. Next, you have him walk around and ask women for directions and finally, you look at all the footage and edit it together into one interesting little YouTube clip. At first it seems like it’d be hard to watch all the feeds at once, but eye-to-camera contact is cleverly highlighted in red.

Interesting experiment, but the guy they use is totally a ringer. The dude gets a lot of bicep hits, but take a look at them when they pan out; the man has guns. How could you not look? One might be able to make a certain comparison to a pair of elements of the female anatomy, but I’ll let you do that yourselves. As for me? I’m going to pretend that women are checking me out when I’m walking around, even though my biceps are more embarrassing than impressive.
