When you’re a kid, you don’t quite grasp the finer points of subtle implication. Or maybe you do, and you use your parents’ assumptions otherwise to make them increasingly uneasy with your progressively less subtle suggestions that they are completely at your mercy, now and forever, and you are not to be angered. You know, testing the depths of their denial. Or maybe Michelle here just thought she’d remind her parents that life is a gift, oblivious of the creepy undertones. It has to be the second one, right? Yeah. Right?

Halloween may be months away, but it’s never too early to start dressing up your dogs. Take this handsome pair, for instance, dressed like a Dragonborn and a dragon from fantasy video game Skyrim. A hand crocheted labor of love, the outfit includes a helmet, sword, shield, and bracers. Also, that’s a dachshund dressed as a dragon. This young red fox labrador Tessie is not only adorable, but just about the best ping pong spectator for which one could hope. Too small for the table, Tessie jumps every single time the ball is hit, and since the pup wants a pretty good view of the action, jumps in the proper direction each time. If you wanted to be a fan of this ping pong fan, don’t worry, because she has her own Facebook page.

You’ve never seen a dog park like this before. No, I don’t mean with all the slow-motion editing and glorious HD; I mean from the perspective of your canine pals. This video, by Kelsey Wynns features his 9-month old Great Dane Bishop and his friends. Sure, it makes the rough-housing look a bit rougher, but the sheer joy of the dogs is downright palpable.

I do like dogs, and I do like Star Wars but I still don’t know what popular German car manufacturer Volkswagen is going for in this new ad. It’s no doubt related to last year’s young Darth Vader ad, but how? Also, is it just me or is a teaser for a Super Bowl ad just a little strange? Whatever. It’s got cute dogs.

Back in November, America was introduced to Lil’ Drac, the abandoned short tailed fruit bat that was being raised by the folks over at the Bat World Sanctuary. Abandoned by his mother during a stressful move following a zoo closure, Lil’ Drac was taken in by the people at Bat World and carefully warmed and fed. His caretakers also brushed him with a warm, wet Q-Tip to simulate his mother’s tongue — because he will never know the loving touch of a mother. In the process, they discovered that he enjoyed rocking himself to sleep. All this combined for a spectacularly viral video, with nearly a million views as of writing.  With little fanfare, a follow-up video was posted, showing how Lil’ Drac isn’t so “Lil’” anymore and finally learned to fly. Willow is a small dog and that is a very big pile of leaves. Hilarity, adorableness ensue.

I’ve been excited to eat before, but that’s nothing compared to this adorable little puppy. He’s so happy to have a face full of food that he can’t even keep his feet on the ground. Perhaps I should take a clue from this dog and start doing handstands to show my appreciation for wonderful things. But then again, I would probably just end up hurting someone.

Susie, a boxer dog with a heart of gold, has had a rough life. She was rescued two years ago from a Welsh puppy farm where she was kept in terrible conditions. Now, she’s a healthy and happy resident of the Hillside Animal Sanctuary, where she met Tabitha, the pig. As you can see, the two are best buddies. You owe it to yourself to take a few minutes to watch this video of a pig and a dog playing together. See it, after the break.

While traveling in Costa Rica, filmmaker Todd Bieber did not find himself grappling with danger. Instead, he found himself utterly taken by the residents of a monkey sanctuary. Though extremely cute, many of these monkeys were either orphaned or injured on the country’s numerous uninsulated power lines. But the tireless workers at the Nosara Wildlife Rescue have made it their mission to rehabilitate their guests, and help keep more monkeys from dying.

It’s a bit of a tear-jerker, but Bieber’s short documentary about his trip and the Nosara rescue is well worth your time. See it, after the break.
