Classy Star Trek Enterprise Coffee Table, for Only $3,100

Etsy seller Barry Shields has constructed this tasteful Star Trek Enterprise coffee table and put it up for sale, for the low (high) price of $3,100. The table, constructed in the likeness of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C, is made from ash, poplar, and cherry wood, and took Shields one month to build. The glass that makes the tabletop was cut to make it look as if the ship is in motion, and the base of table is made to look as if the ship is in orbit over a planet. The table has a poly finish coat for protection, and the glass dimensions measure in at 34″ x 54″ x 17″ tall. The table hasn’t sold yet, so get to buying if you’re interested, and head on past the break to check out some more pictures taken at different angles.

A Billion Dollars Isn’t Cool. You Know What’s Cool? Facebook’s Possible $100 Billion IPO Valuation

There have been rumblings of Mark Zuckerberg making Facebook a publicly traded company for some time, but new information seems to point toward the possibility of a whopping $100 billion initial public offering (IPO) valuation. Such a valuation could raise huge amounts of money for the company, founded barely seven years ago when Zuckerberg was at Harvard. Those events have already been immortalized in film, and Facebook’s continuing struggles with privacy are the stuff of Internet legend, but a massive IPO would almost certainly open a new chapter for the social networking giant.

Price of Bitcoin Continues to Plummet, Falls Below Price of Mining for Them

Bitcoin is a weird thing. While many would argue that currency itself is arbitrary, Bitcoin is a virtual currency backed by tangible currency. One benefit of Bitcoin is that it is pretty much untraceable, allowing people to buy nefarious items across the Internet — generally drugs. Another benefit of Bitcoin, one that some will speculate doomed the currency to fail from its inception, is that it is able to be generated for what many people would claim is free, as the only real costs involved are the electricity spent on the computing power being used to mine for said coins.

Well, those doomsayers will be happy to know that the price of Bitcoin has been falling for some time, and has now fallen further than the actual price to mine for some. The worth drops around one dollar every week or so. At least one Reddit user is speculating that one Bitcoin will be worth one USD sometime soon, effectively making Bitcoin worthless — not in that one USD is worthless, but in that one can simply use USD to pay for things instead of go through the process of obtaining Bitcoins. If you feel the need to monitor your favorite Internet currency, head on over to the numbertastic (or numberterrible, depending on your taste in quantity of numbers) Bitcoin Charts.

All Verizon Phones on Amazon Wireless Being Sold for a Penny Until October 17

In an obvious attempt to battle the iPhone 4S that arrives tomorrow for those who pre-ordered it, Amazon Wireless is offering a pretty amazing deal for current and new Verizon customers. They are selling every Verizon phone for one cent. Yes, the iPhone is on Verizon, but Amazon Wireless doesn’t carry it, so it seems they figured this sale is the least they can do to combat the release of the 4S. This sale isn’t limited to last-gen flip phones or the cheapest smart phones available; as one can see from the above screenshot, even the LTE-capable Droid Bionic is marked down a cool $699.98. The Bionic isn’t the only LTE-capable phone being offered, as the HTC Thunderbolt and Droid Charge are thrown into the mix. On top of the low, low price of one penny, Amazon Wireless is providing free two-day shipping as well.

However, one can’t simply buy up every single phone being offered for a grand total of barely any money in order to throw them all in a drawer and create a fancy phone drawer, as the offer is only available for new lines. The offer is available from now until Monday, October 17.
