We’ve relied on Jörg Sprave, the mind behind the Slingshot Channel, to provide us with the latest and greatest in rubber-band powered weapons of destruction. Whether it’s a gatling gun or wrecking a car with a ridiculous piece of slingshot artillery, Sprave is a DIY guru of destruction. His latest creation is a little bit off the beaten path, eschewing traditional slingshots and instead strapping a bunch of steak knives onto a spinning wheel of death. You need to see this.

Listen, we all know that you’ve been wanting to turn your salami and provolone sandwich into your laptop’s trackpad, and we’re also fully aware of your secret desire to turn those double cherry gummy candies into your new PS3 controller. We’re not (entirely) here to judge your (weirdo) desires, but there’s a Kickstarter project that can make all your (awful) touchpad desires come true. It’s called MaKey MaKey, is somewhat difficult to type due to the camel caps, and is actually pretty awesome.

We’ve seen some nifty Portal turrets in real life before, but not one that actually shoots. A Penn State University student created this currently frameless turret for his Advanced Mechatronics class’ final project. The turret, like in the game, tracks its victims via an IP webcam, as well as shoots at them, though luckily for said victims it only shoots Nerf bullets. He’s working on a frame so the thing looks more like the iconic white turret we’ve all come to love and fear, and yes, the turret also talks in that sing-songy, haunting voice. As you may know, Dyson prides itself on makings some really serious vacuums. As such, its vacuums takes some really serious components and are made by some really serious engineers. Of course, you can’t be making vacuums all the time, so Dyson’s 650 U.K. engineers decided to have a little fun and use some spare vacuum parts to build mini DIY drag racers. The results were pretty impressive.

Maybe I live in a crazy world full of the corpses of technology, but everyone I know has a room where they keep all of their old, discarded computers and computer parts. A large portion of these people have a box full of old hard drives that either fell into disrepair, or simply became outdated to the point of being obsolete. Unfortunately, no one ever wants to throw away integral computer parts, even when they’re not in use, so they simply languish away in that corner of the garage, however, Samimy of Samimy Productions does his best to put those old hard drives to use. He doesn’t link a bunch of them together and make some kind of passable storage system, no, but turns a discarded hard drive into a combination smartphone stand, charger, LED lamp, and pen holder that also has a bit of hidden storage.

The Internet is host to some pretty neat LEGO builds, and we come across some fairly extravagant ones from time to time, but the above anesthesia machine built by Eric Harsbarger is on the verge of mind-blowing. Not only because of the true-to-life size, but because why would anyone build a LEGO anesthesia machine? Well, there’s a pretty reasonable explanation.

The idea of a cheap, DIY, fully automatic airsoft gun is pretty enthralling on its own, but what if I told you there was not only a $5 burst fire model you can fire by hand, but also a backpack mounted, flamethrower-style variant? Amateur pellet-gun armament just got real. Nighthawkinlight, mastermind behind the original soda bottle airsoft firearm now presents us with two modifications that can make it even cooler, in two distinct ways. A DIY airsoft gun upgrade tree, if you will.

I always wanted an Airsoft gun as a kid, but I ran into two big problems: They tended to be expensive, and even if I had then money, no one was going to sell me one unless I was eighteen or had parental approval. Yeah right. If only I’d known then that I could make an fully-automatic Airsoft gun out of a soda bottle and some air compressor bits. Of course, had I known that then, I probably wouldn’t have made it all the way to adulthood with a full complement of eyes. Still, I wish I’d known.

We’ve seen some pretty impressive 3D printing projects before, but this is the first time one has crossed two of our primary interests: Doctor Who and cookies. Volpin Props is pretty good at making nearly identical versions of Portal items in real life. After tackling Half-Life 2′s gravity gun, the next item on the list was the Heel Springs, Portal’s lampshaded explanation as to why Chell can fall from pretty much any height and remain unharmed.
