Kaspersky Labs Says Apple Not Serious About Security, Apple Asks Them to Consult

Computer experts, or anyone that has been on the Internet for long enough, will tell you that no machine is safe from malicious software. This point was driven home quite dramatically in the past few weeks when it was disclosed that over 600,000 Apple computers were part of an enormous botnet powered by the Flashback malware. Now, Apple is asking the security firm Kaspersky Labs to help them batten down the hatches.

In quite possibly what is one of the oddest headlines you’ll see today that’ll put you through a roller coaster of hilarity and depravity, a Florida man in his underwear stabbed his computer with a samurai sword when his home was raided this week on the suspicion of a cache of child pornography.

Thousands of Smuggled Capsules Filled With Powdered Human Baby Flesh Seized in South Korea

Last year, we wrote about a South Korean team that was investigating the production and sale of capsules filled with powdered human baby flesh in China. When the team investigated, they reportedly found a hospital that sold the dead babies, with the dead babies mostly being abortions and stillbirths, to medicine companies. These medicine companies would put the dead baby into a medical drying microwave, then grind the dried result up into powder and put it into a pill capsule. The pills were reportedly being sold to enhance stamina, though what variety of stamina was not clarified. Now, South Korean officials say they seized thousands of capsules of smuggled dead baby pills.

At an art auction held at Sotheby’s in New York City yesterday, Edvard Munch’s The Scream was sold for a record $119,922,500, quite a bit more than the $80 million the auction house thought the famous painting would snag. The item sold at the auction is one of four known versions of the painting, with the other three all in Norwegian museums.

These Chinese Factory Workers Are Way Too Good at Packing Cards [Video]

Though the above video’s title is fairly unappealing, watching these playing card factory employees work is instantly impressive. The first employee’s hands, in particular, move so fast they’re actually a little difficult to follow, and if you glance at the video in passing, you might think it’s just some guy smacking his hands on a table for no reason.

5th Ave. Frogger Lets You Play Classic Frogger With Real Time Traffic Data From 5th Avenue

Originally released in 1981, arcade classic Frogger is now over 30 years old. Tyler DeAngelo thought that maybe, considering it’s age Frogger could use a little bit of an update. Instead of using new graphics, or or better hardware, DeAngelo, with the help of Ranjit Bhatnagar and Renee Lee, took his Frogger modification in a different direction by having it use the real time traffic on New York City’s 5th Avenue as the in-game obstacles everyone’s favorite virtual frog tries to avoid, or in DeAngelo’s words (coming from the mouth of the Frogger frog): Real Cars. Real time. Fake frog.

Biker Uses GPS For Line Art, Makes Baltimore His Own Personal Etch-A-Sketch

Biking can be a great way to get around, or stay in shape, or just have a little fun, but I’ll bet you never considered that it could be a way to doodle. Neither have I, but WallyGPX has, and he’s gotten quite good at it. By plotting intricate rides around the Baltimore area, WallyGPX — real name Michael J. Wallace — has GPS-painted dozens and dozens of images using the city like a giant Etch-A-Sketch. He’s been doing it a while, but he just got a surge of attention when the official Angry Birds Twitter account made note of their favorite piece of his.

Scientists Count Emperor Penguins From Space, Find Twice as Many as Thought

Due to the harsh antarctic climate, coming up with an accurate number of Emperor Penguins has proved to be extremely difficult. However, a new study using satellite imagery has done what may be the most accurate count of the large flightless birds yet done, pegging their population at around 595,000 birds — nearly twice the previous estimate.

Watch the Creation of an iPad from the Foxconn Floor [Video]

Marketplace reports that their Bureau Chief Rob Schmitz is the second reporter to ever gain access to the factory floor at the somewhat infamous Foxconn, Apple’s Chinese producer. Though there’s always news of Foxconn suicides, so much so that the phrase “Foxconn suicides” has its own Wikipedia page, the factory seems to do what it can to make the conditions bearable. As shown from the above video, the factory is spotlessly clean, and the campus even has athletic facilities for workers to unwind and exercise.
