Rumor: Is Foxconn Hiring for an iPhone 5 Launch?

Apparently last October’s iPhone 4S wasn’t enough for everyone as rumors about a possible iPhone 5 launch this June have started to swirl around the Internet. The latest fuel to this fire comes from TV Tokyo, which seems to have captured footage of a Foxconn employee telling people that they are hiring 18,000 employees for a June release. Unless that’s not exactly what happened — which is probably the case.

Report: Amazon May Launch Three New Tablets This Year

Back in September of last year, Amazon bucked the trend on eReaders and launched the full-color touchscreen Kindle Fire tablet. Unlike the previous Kindles, which had highly readable e-ink, the Fire was deigned to give users a more functionality — all backed by Amazon’s growing media infrastructure. Now, it seems that the popular Fire might have some new friends coming this year.

According to a source CNET stands by that has been correct about Apple things in the past, the next iPad will drop the numerical naming convention and become the iPad HD, rather than the iPad 3, in order to better promote the new, pretty screen. Someone Needs to Stop Android’s Naming Convention: Key Lime Pie Name Leaked, Comes After Jelly Bean

Though Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t particularly old as of yet, the next Android operating system after that has already been leaked, Jelly Bean. Even though that operating system isn’t even out yet, the one following that one has possibly been leaked, dubbed Key Lime Pie. So, on top of Android’s alphabetical order and dessert naming convention, we’re now possible two operating systems ahead of the current one. Android seems to be getting ahead of itself.

Report: Is Valve Working on a “Steam Box” Gaming Console?

Late last night, The Verge posted an interesting article claiming that game developer and distributor Valve might be readying for a foray into the hardware business with a gaming console. Called a “Steam Box,” the hypothetical set-top device would bring Valve’s online game distribution system Steam to TVs similar to how the Roku and Boxee brought online streaming video into the living room. If true, such a device could drastically change the distinction between PC and console games.

Report: Apple to Announce iPad 3 in March

If you’re wondering when you might be able to get your eyes on some actual iPad 3 news, AllThingsD is reporting that the ever-present and all-knowing “sources” say Apple will announce the unit the first week in March. It is assumed the event will be held in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, one of Apple’s preferred locations. The all-knowing sources haven’t provided a release date as of yet, but if the iPad 3 follows the schedule of the iPad 2, it could release shortly after the introductory announcement by only a week or so. The device is said to be somewhat similar to the upgrade found between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S: A similar form factor, but faster and more powerful bits stuffed inside. We won’t have to wait too much longer for some hard news of the new iPad, so sit tight, and try to figure out what you’re going to do with that iPad 2 you only bought a year ago.

Rumor: Wii U Console Specs Leaked, Console Underpowered

When the Wii U was first announced, most of the press was focused on the tablet-style controller. What people realized after the hype surrounding the controller died down, was that the specs of the actual console — you know, the thing that makes the games run — were a mystery. The only official bite of information we know about the console is that it will be Nintendo’s first HD console, and after playing Uncharted 3 then diving straight into the newest ZeldaSkyward Sword, my eyes can say that Nintendo finally adopting HD will be a welcomed treat. Now, however, “developers who have access to the console” have been leaked the specs, reports Wii U Daily.
