Upon closer inspection, the above cheeseburger isn’t weird frosting dripping out of odd-looking ground beef, but is actually made entirely of dessert. Carl’s Jr., a fast food chain you may not be familiar with if you live in the eastern half of the United States, is reportedly working on new dessert experiment the Carl’s Jr. Ice Cream Brrrger; like one of those ice cream cookie sandwiches, but simulating a hamburger, and looking nearly identical to ground beef at a glance.

A neat treat some of you (us) may have missed: Jelly shots in the shape of waffles, complete with vodka. The shots were made over at Jelly Shot Test Kitchen in two flavors, one of which being classic, the other being blueberry. Both of which feature maple syrup, so they actually taste like a waffle, rather than just looking like one. Recipe after the break.

If you get sick of most foods rather quickly and want a new, carb-filled take on your old favorites, why not try this lasagna burger? Not only is the burger patty made of an even split between ground beef and ground Italian sausage, but it’s topped with mozzarella cheese, lasagna noodles, tomato sauce, and ricotta cheese, and then shoved into a hoagie roll. The patty was baked before it was put on the sandwich, then the fully assembled sandwich was baked again for a few minutes. Overall, the sandwich weighs over one pound, so you should either get to a gym right after, or save some for later.

Lollyphile!, maker of lavender lollipops to Absinthe lollipops, not only provides those classy and somewhat odd treats, but also provides a Sriracha lollipop. Sriracha, being that bottle of red hot sauce you might find at your local noodle shop or crusted up near the sink in your place of work, makes for an interesting lollipop, in that it is spicy, and lollipops tend to hang out in your mouth for long periods of time. If you want to try them out, lucky day, they’re relatively cheap!

Yet another awesome pastry to give you cake envy. This time, we have an Eye of Sauron cake, complete with Elvish writing. Though this cake should satisfy any Lord of the Rings viewing party (which would, roughly, last weeks) sees all, we all know that sometimes red frosting tastes terrible, so it might not see its way into your stomach after that initial taste. Plenty of people have pie on March 14th and act like they’re being all clever about it. “Oh look at how funny I am. I’m having pie for Pi Day.” I can appreciate a good pun, but I prefer to appreciate a great pun. Lucky for me, Shannon at a periodic table has provided such a pun with her delicious looking Apple Pi.

Over at SXSW, famed competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi takes on grilled cheese sandwiches, eating thirteen of them in one minute. Not only did Kobayashi take all the fun out of grilled cheese sandwiches by not savoring them long enough to enjoy them, but he set the new world record for amount of grilled cheese sandwiches eaten in one minute. He uses the usual competitive eating tricks, like dunking the food in water in order to help it slide down faster, and also having an extradimensional portal instead of a stomach.

One time while driving through South Carolina, my family and I drove by a sign on the highway advertising McPizza, McDonald’s attempt at pizza. Much to my dismay, we didn’t stop to try it out, and I never saw it again. For a while in South Florida, some of the McDonald’s restaurants offered the McCuban Sandwich like it was a normal thing to have at a McDonald’s. At that point, I realized that certain McDonald’s restaurants had location-based menus. I never saw the McHotdog, but the Internet once told me it was a thing. It turns out McDonald’s has a multitude of odd menu items in varying locations that one wouldn’t even guess McDonald’s ever thought about attempting, much less created and put on sale.
