Diablo Gingerbread Lord of Terror Skull

Not only is the above a picture of a gingerbread Lord of Terror skull from Diablo, but it comes complete with a candy soulstone. The maker of the skull probably didn’t have to click roughly one billion times to put it together, at least. I kid, Diablo fans, but not really.

Time to Air Your Grievances, Festivus is Upon Us [Infographic]

For those that are sick of holiday cheer, or feel they can’t happily celebrate anything while suffering people are still in the world (or something), never fear, for Festivus is almost here. Created by writer Dan O’Keefe as a holiday people can celebrate without participating in the “pressures” of commercialization, his son Daniel, a screenwriter for Seinfeld, introduced the holiday to the world through George Costanza’s father’s holiday beliefs. The secular holiday is celebrated on December 23, and consists of time-honored traditions, such as the Airing of Grievances and the Feats of Strength, because who doesn’t want to argue with and physically fight their loved ones to celebrate the holiday season? Detailed information presented in a visual medium after the break. If only that kind of thing had a singular word to describe it.

21 Perfectly Punctured Pumpkins

1.

Pumpkin carving can be pretty simple or, if you feel like it, it can be a complex time-consuming endeavor resulting in an absolutely stunning work of art that is destined to turn into a moldy pile of slime in a few short weeks. Now, who has the kind of time and determination to devote to building useless, but neat-lookin’ things? Minecraft players specifically, geeks in general. That being the case, we’d like to present you with a small collection, a mere smattering really, of creative and intricate jack-o-lanterns on this, all hallows’ eve. To all you crazy pumpkin sculptors, keep up the good work. As for me, I’m going to stick with hobbies that don’t involve knives. I’m pretty clumsy and I like having two thumbs.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Hippocampal Blood Vessel

If you were wondering if Christmas icons were being randomly formed by blood vessels in your brain, wonder no more. Because it’s entirely possible. In fact, there’s a picture of it. A group of scientists stumbled upon this seeming image of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer while they were studying neurons in the hippocampal region of the brain, which plays a role in long-term memory and spatial navigation.

Researcher Claudia Racca explains:

“We were looking at a section of the tissue and noticed this strange but familiar shape. “It was intriguing and we noticed the similarity to a reindeer.

“We then took an overexposed picture of it and the red blob for the nose and the white antlers showed up even better.

“We got distracted from the science at that point and had a bit of fun with the pictures of Rudolph instead.

Racca puts it best: ”It may not be very valuable scientifically but it looks nice on the eye.”
