The Delightfully Difficult Super Meat Boy is Going Mobile

Super Meat Boy, arguably one of the best — and hardest — platformers of the modern era, is known for its punishing difficulty and unbelievably tight controls. That being that case, it would be perfect as a touchscreen smartphone game. Wait, would it? Team Meat thinks it could be. In a flurry of tweets today, Team Meat released some info about the upcoming Super Meat Boy mobile that might ease some of your fears, namely that it’s not so much a port as a complete re-envisioning.

The Cryoscope Lets You Feel Tomorrow’s Temperature, Today!

So this is a pretty neat idea: An aluminum cube that gives you the physical sensation of tomorrow’s forecasted temperature. It’s called the Cryoscope, and it’s the Arduino-powered creation of Robb Godshaw. The idea is that instead of just looking at the weather forecast, you can put your hand on the cube and actually feel the air temperature thanks to the device’s internal heat pump. It’s clever, though one wonders how it would handle extreme temperatures. Perhaps if you saw frost forming on your Cryoscope, you’d know that it’s best to stay inside. See Godshaw’s explanatory video, after the break.

Eers Can Make Custom-Fit Earbuds in 5 Minutes

When you open up a pair of sound cancelling headphones, the first thing you have to do is play the “Which one of those weird nubs fits my ear canals best” game, which unfortunately can sometimes end in “None of them.” Well, if you’ve ever wanted earbuds that fit you perfectly, your life just got easier. Custom molded headphones have existed for a while, but up until now they’ve required going to an audiologist, having a cast made and then sent out to a lab, waiting 2-3 weeks, and paying several hundreds of dollars at the least. Eers, introduced at CES, aims to remedy this by making custom fit earbuds wherever you want, in only five minutes.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Co-Creator Is Auctioning Off Everything In His Studio

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman has a really awesome studio. Awesome enough that when he decided to auction off everything in it to raise money for the Hero Initiative, a charity that helps comic creators in need, people were actually interested and started bidding on his stuff. The wealth of neat things includes original art, action figures, t-shirts, over 600 DVDs and, of course, his desk and chair. When he says everything, he means everything. The catch is, you can’t pick and choose.

Music-Synced Christmas Light Suits Sure Beat Holiday Sweaters

Don we now our gay apparel, and why shouldn’t that apparel be primarily composed of Christmas lights synchronized to flash with music? Andy Coulson asked himself that same question and came to the conclusion that he should build a pair of light suits for himself and his friend. You know, for science. Of course, a big part of this rig is the actual lights, but the real important part is the LabVIEW interface that breaks down .wav files into power levels and frequency bands, and the arduino that uses that information to sync the flashing lights. The result is a pair of festive, but flagrantly flashing fatigues that would make you the center of any holiday gathering.

Awesome Wooden Boombox Proves That Boomboxes Can Still Be Cool

It’s almost 2012. In this day and age, if you hear someone say “boombox,” it’s reasonable to assume they’re either time travelers from the ’90s or they mispronounced Boom Blox, which they were talking about for some reason. Boomboxes can still be cool though, as evidenced by this DIY wooden one put together by Matt Keeter. They don’t have to be expensive either; Keeter managed to piece this one together for a total cost of less than $100.
