It’s Super Effective!

“Inexact” Computer Chip Is 15 Times More Efficient Than Perfect Counterparts

If you’ve ever done any programming, you know that one of the best things about computers, and also one of the most annoying things about them, is that they don’t make mistakes. A computer will always do exactly what you tell it to, and if you don’t get the right result, it is 100% your fault. At least, this is usually the case. Researchers at Rice University have made an interesting discovery, however. If you build your computer chips so that they can make mistakes, you can boost your efficiency by crazy amounts, to the point where more accident-prone chips can be 15 times more efficient than their always-perfect counterparts.

In Response to SOPA Query, Sega Recommends a Hard Reset

What with the ESA throwing their considerable weight behind SOPA, it’s become an important part of SOPA activism to harass and get statements from members of the ESA as to their own positions on SOPA. Some spoke out against the ESA’s stance. Some didn’t. Some responded with a non sequitur. When pressed for a statement on their SOPA stance by DanGlozier66 at HotBloodedGaming, Sega of America responded with some sage advice: Have you tried performing a hard reset?

Giant LEGO Machine Moves Balls Around, is Amazing

It’s extremely difficult to describe what exactly YouTube user ctx0075 accomplished with his “LEGO awesome machine.” To say that it is merely an overly complicated device composed entirely out of mechanized LEGO blocks that moves a bunch of small plastic balls around in a circle does not do it justice. Over the course of their magical, circular journey, these plastic balls will ride on front loaders, trucks, trains, ferris wheels, mechanical claws, and many, many chutes. Simply put, the machine uses just about every way to move balls that you can imagine, and several that you can’t. Watch it. Be amazed. Be perplexed. See the video, after the break.

In Final Moments of His Campaign, Herman Cain Finally Acknowledges Pokémon

This past August, GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain turned some heads when he quoted the Donna Summer song “The Power of One.” You might not recognize the song from the title, but cast your mind back to the closing credits of Pokèmon 2000 and it’ll all coming rushing back. At the time, Cain chalked up the quote to “a poet.”  However, he begrudgingly acknowledged the song’s provenience after announcing the suspension of his presidential campaign yesterday.

Gotta Drink ‘Em All: Evolving Pokémon Cocktails

The sophisticated Pokémon trainer demands a beverage that will meet the needs of his or her discerning palate. The Pokémon cocktails developed by the author(s) of the Drunken Moogle blog does just that, with a series that include three separate drinks inspired by each evolutionary stages of various pocket monsters. Each series begins with a shot, moves on to a midsize drink served in a tumbler, and then a highball-sized cocktail. It’s notable that each drink builds on the previous, so the Charmeleon contains the ingredients from the Charizard, and so on.

The Charmander series looks particularly interesting, partly because it uses the truly excellent Fireball cinnamon whiskey, but also because you can light them on fire. See that weird blue haze above the shot glass? That’s what Bacardi 151 looks when in flames.

Read on below to get the recipes for this and other intriguing Pokémon cocktails, but remember: Pokémon masters always drink responsibly.
