The Feminist Ryan Gosling Meme is Now a Book You Can Buy for 8 Bucks

Hey girl, you may have seen a meme in the past year that involves Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling espousing feminist theory. Feminist Ryan Gosling, it’s succinctly named, as memes tend to be. Now, in the footsteps of Look At That F*cking Hipster and People of Walmart, Feminist Ryan Gosling is coming to a printed book near you.

NCIS Can’t Help Itself, Makes Arrow to the Knee Reference [Video]

Today on the docket of generic television procedurals either trolling gamers or not knowing what they’re talking about but rolling with it anyway, we have the above scene from NCIS. Not only does it begin with some technician at a company that produces routers derogatorily using the term “dweeb” due to a character’s interest in said routers, but the clip moves toward a mention of Skyrim and “Old Republic,” calling them “dorky roleplaying games.” Best of all, the clip ends with everyone’s most hated Skyrim meme, taking an arrow to the knee.

Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson on Being a Meme [Video]

When you manage to get Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson for an interview, there are plenty of directions you can take things. You could ask him about how excited he is to be the host of the upcoming reboot of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos. You could ask him his thoughts on the Onion and the Pulitzer Prize. Or, you could ask him what it’s like to be a meme. That’s what Joshua Topolsky did on a recent taping of On The Verge. Tyson’s take on the whole thing? “It’s a little weird and creepy, but I’m OK with it.” Watch out, we’ve got a pretty chill astrophysicist over here!

Internet Meme Playing Cards Project Seeking Funds on Kickstarter

Ray Thomas has a dream, one in which he makes a deck of standard playing cards, but each card features an image macro, one of the more common Internet memes. There are certainly enough image macros to spread across 52 separate cards, so all Thomas needs is the money to produce them. Welcome to life, Thomas. Luckily for Thomas (and us), there’s this website called Kickstarter that is pretty well-known for kickstarting projects in need of funds. Ray Thomas is seeking to pledge $4,200 by February 16, a price quoted to him by card manufacturers, to make all of his (and our) image macro playing card dreams come true.

Danny Trejo in Bad Ass, a Real Movie, Seemingly Inspired by a Meme

Back in February 2010, a video was taken of a 67-year-old white man, Thomas Bruso, getting into a fight with a black man on a bus due to what seemed to be an argument based on a racial misunderstanding. The 67-year-old man, after trying to avoid any kind of confrontation by moving to another seat on the other side of the bus, happened to be wearing a shirt that said, “I am a motherf**ker,” and despite his efforts to avoid the fight, got into one anyway. The man he was fighting with actually threw the first punch, but then surprisingly, Bruso quickly jumped out of his seat and subdued the man via a flurry of punches, earning the Internet title of “Epic Beard Man.” His shirt obviously helped garner the Internet’s attention. Now, it seems Danny Trejo will be in a movie entitled Bad Ass inspired by Bruso, trailer above.

Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop Cleverly Infiltrates DOOM

Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop rose to meme prominence fairly quickly. We chose to focus on him casually pepper spraying great works of art, because we felt his tour through art was funnier and more compelling than the majority of the meme, which just shoved him into any old situation. However, his appearance in DOOM is extremely clever, in that some trickster took a bit of time and care morphing the space marine on DOOM’s cover into the cop, weird upside-down hand and all.

The 21 Best Megyn Kelly Memes, Essentially

You really have to be careful with pepper spray. Obviously, you’ve got to be careful not to hit yourself with it, but you also have to be careful with how you use it on others, or you might get made into a meme. Also, you have to be careful how you talk about it; that can get you meme’d up too.

Nyan Cat Theme on an Ocarina [Video]

YouTube user docjazz4 spent two months of long practice becoming a master ocarinist, a word that surprisingly didn’t invoke red spellcheck squigglies underneath it when I just typed it. No, docjazz4 didn’t learn all of the songs from everyone’s favorite ocarina medium – he spent those two months learning how to play the Nyan Cat theme, and judging from the above video of him rocking out with an ocarina, those two months were time well spent.

Turn Your Windows 7 Progress Bar Into a Nyan Cat

Developed by Ben Stone, the program Instant Elevator Music plays music whenever a user is waiting for a process to finish on his or her computer. Modding the program, Stone was able to slap a Nyan Cat into the progress bar, replacing the now old and busted soothing green bar. Currently, the Nyan bar only works in Windows 7, and Stone says it won’t work in Windows XP and there’s also a chance that the bar will only work properly with the Windows File Explorer. Head on past the break to see a video of the bar in action.

Nyan Cats From Around the World

So, you want to start your own country? Better design a flag, pick an animal and get to work on your Nyan Cat. Around the 4th of July, two very American Nyan Cats got a lot of attention, and so here at Geekosystem, we decided to look into the phenomena and collect as many ethnic nyan cats as possible. It turned out to be an interesting pursuit as the existence and/or quality of a countries Nyan Cat isn’t related to anything as simple as population. In fact, these wonderful Nyans can probably be used as somewhat of a barometer with which to judge the Internet-saviness, meme-awareness and national pride of the cultural groups that associate with a given country. Also how much free time they have and how inclined they are to waste it.

A few fun statistics (assuming I’ve found all the national Nyan Cats out there):

  • Israel is the smallest country (by population) to have a Nyan Cat.
  • Indonesia is the largest country (by population) not to have one.
  • All Nyan Cats hail from Europe, Asia or North America.
  • France has the largest variety of Nyan Cats (three).

See them all after the jump, play them simultaneously and let the Nyan soak in through your eardrums.
