You might not think of a 1960s era advertising agency as a good locale for a zombie flick, and that’s probably because it isn’t. It is, however, a great locale for a Mad Men, Walking Dead mashup that is way better than it has any right to be. The premise is about as simple as you’d imagine featuring a world where your favorite ad-peddling alcoholics have suddenly become zombies. As pretty much everyone has also suddenly become a zombie they now need to market only one product: Brains.

It’s the boombox. The boombox. This startling revelation was brought to light in a paper in the Journal of Management and Marketing Research. The conclusion is the result of checking the overall level of adoption of a variety of new technologies by the 7th year of their existence. The numbers show that the boombox was number one. For a little context, not only did it beat out the cellphone and the desktop computer but also every other variety of mobile music devices, of which I think we can all agree, the boombox is by far the least efficient and the most annoying.

While the recent federal takedown of file-sharing giant MegaUpload was a little bit of a shock, the fact that other file-sharing sites are scaling back as a result is decidedly less so. FileSonic, one of the top ten file-sharing sites on the net with around a quarter billion pageviews per month, just took its file-sharing functionality offline; you can still upload and download, but only your own files. Basically, FileSonic just voluntarily turned itself into Dropbox.

Who knows. But it probably involves a plastic bag. Will it be funny? There’s only one way to find out.
