Scientists Discover Secret Behind Brain Washing (The Good Kind)

There are plenty of things about the way the brain works that remain a mystery to us. Where does a memory live? Do we actually have free will? Why do I sometimes worry that I’ve lost my phone because it’s not in my pocket even though it is clearly in my hand?  While science doesn’t have answers to any of those questions yet, researchers have weighed in on a long-standing mystery of neuroscience, shedding light on how the brain disposes of waste and keeps itself clean. In doing so, they’ve discovered a whole new plumbing system that seems to shadow the arteries and blood vessels in the organ.

Cleaning and disposal in the body is managed largely by the lymphatic system, which doesn’t make an appearance in the brain. That has had researchers pondering how the brain disposes of molecular waste material. Now they have their answer. Cerebrospinalfluid, or CSF, has long been a suspect in the brain’s garbage pickup, and it turns out that instinct was right. CSF filters through the brain collecting unneeded matter, and then drains out through tube-like structures that are wrapped around the blood cells in the brain. These structures operate under a surprising amount of pressure, flushing away more debris from the brain and doing it at a faster rate than anyone suspected.

Scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center have dubbed the new series of brain drains the “glymphatic system” for its simliarity to the lymphatic system that filters and recycles blood plasma in the rest of the body and the fact that its operation seems to be governed by a class of brian cells known as glial cells.

If you’re wondering how a whole system of plumbing in the brain could have gone undiscovered until now, you’re not alone. Because the glymphatic system only functions in intact, living brains, it’s not easy to find in traditional images of the brain, or even during dissections. However, using a recently developed imaging technique known as two photon microscopy, researchers were able to sneak a peek inside a working mouse brain to get a look at the CSF disposal process firsthand. Given how similar mice and human brains are, it’s a safe bet that daily trash pickup in our brains operates on the same principles.

New information about how the brain disposes of waste and keeps itself in working order is far from an academic concern, though. The research could have implications for treating brain diseases like Alzheimer’s which are linked to buildup of damaging plaques around brain cells.

    Religion is brainwashing.

Could this be where Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia type symptoms come from when the “washing” process starts to loose efficiency, or fails to be as effective as when people are younger?

You’re right, but Jesus Christ is not!

    Oxymoron above me.

I think you’re absolutely on to something– I suppose if they analyze the content of what is being cleaned out they might see amyloid protein– alzheimer’s may be an example of the body no longer recognizing the proteins as something that should be washed out.

    Atheism/agnosticism is brainwashing.
    College is brainwashing.
    Politics is brainwashing.
    Media is brainwashing.
    Raising children is brainwashing.

Pick your washer as best you can, but don’t be a bigot, unless you are brainwashed to be one by the above and have decided that you like that flavor of ideology and CHOOSE not to change it. Brainwashing is better known as LEARNING by those in know.

If your remark was made sarcastically ir not, such a view as yours is unfortunatey short-sided and misunderstood. This article does a great job in highlighting the complexity of the brain, by engineering terms it establishes the intelligence found in creation. Unlike ignorant individuals, Jesus Christ or Religiom, which is the effect of the events mainly around 30-33 C.E is does not rely on faith, but it stands on its ground, acknowlege by numerous classic and modern historians for and against his teachings. Now on to science…

Emphasizing the similar purpose of various organisms’ similar features is a natural pushback to evolutionism’s implicit atheism. Organisms interacting with environmental properties on the same planet would be expected to share similar features. Research has shown elements in developmental pathways and genetics common to many creatures forming similar structures, yet under an exquisite control that directs them into the applications for each unique kind of creature. These same programs allow remarkable adaptability of most of those structures.

These facts will point people to see how life really operates. Expose evolution’s substitute god, natural selection, by showing that “nature” never “selects” or “acts on” organisms, but rather creatures occupy environments when the population’s inherent adaptability generates traits that fit assorted niches. This innate ability is programmed into the entire creature, right from the original creation, enabling it to satisfy the Lord’s purpose for His creatures to fill the earth.

    Excellent – much appreciated comment.

Brainwashing is narrowed learning of often inaccurate information. Learning and brainwashing are not equivalent.

Semantics. Its your responsibility to discern truth and error, learn truth and reject error. Sounds simple. But its complicated as evidenced by the variety of things people believe as truth. If you are defining “brainwashing” as a mind control program by an organization, religious (Scientology is the prime example) or otherwise then your thinking more narrowly than me. My definition is broad enough to include all forms of indoctrination whether truth or error is what is being taught. Both can be learned. Both can be unlearned. I’m very familiar with how this works, believe me.

that’s owesome, finally science can slove some kind of symtomps..and hopefully that they will produce a pill to cure all this problem soonest…

Here in my country, Thailand we have some symtoms from a dark magic, who’s being forced forced from a noise while reading , someone try to destroy others memories about their previous experiences , or memory about english esp.words. accourding to Jealousy symtoms and some want to take an advantage from this unrespected observations

some person need help from this word, someone is brillant down here..business,scient,and selfconcencious, assertive and maditation.

I’m waiting for a pill to solve all of this problem and hope that i can bring back all of my talent…

    Sunshine…

be careful!!! if that is not really you want to …becareful that someone will take your brain and sale to a millionair and give you a shit or try to hiding your to a grave…

what do you feel if you met someone who’s looklike your whole body without science, and that person trying very hard to read through your mind by using  a dark magic and after complete all of the observations she will take all of your brain and becomming a positute or catch your man , your job, your social ?

    what you do feel?
