Researchers at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science have discovered that cockroach and locust brains house antibiotic properties that could lead to treating bacterial infections.
The researchers have discovered nine different molecules that bacteria cannot defend against, which may lead to treatments for stubborn bacteria, such as E. coli. The researchers are continuing their work, hoping to develop various treatments for untreatable diseases by sucking out the molecular goo kept inside cockroaches’ and locusts’ brains.
