Call of Duty Elite Has a Price and that Price is $50

The wait is over. Everything you ever wanted to know about Call of Duty‘s new social-networking, stat-tracking, DLC-content-delivering service, Elite, is now known to the public. Where do we start? For the sake of background, let’s cover some of the features. Elite will allow users to track all kind of in-depth stats like weapon analysis, personal leaderboards, perk and screenshot sharing, advanced clan support and even video coaching in the form of tips and tricks. It also comes part and parcel with forthcoming MW3 DLC, all for the low, low price of $50.

Is that such a low, low price? When Elite was announced, we were all assured that it would cost less than the “fees for comparable online-entertainment services,” and to a certain extent that seems to be true. That’s cheaper than a year of Xbox Live, PSN Plus, or Netflix, but the thing is that Elite gives you MW3 and nothing else. When you take the variety of content into account (or lack thereof) the comparability to other online services kind of dies down. Still, if you take your Modern Warfare extremely seriously, this pack will have things you’ll want, and if you were going to get the DLC anyway, you might as well pick up the rest of the perks by purchasing Elite. Just beware, once they start getting you to subscribe to things, they’re going to keep trying to do it over and over again.

If that wasn’t enough, Modern Warfare 3 is getting its own specially designed Xbox 360 model too. Check out a picture below.

Pay attention, people. This is where COD dies and Battlefield 3 takes the lead in online console gaming. Say buh-bye COD. Commence the flame war, fanboys!

Please people do not buy elite, as op has stated once they see that they can charge you 50$ for what should be a free service for paying 60$ for there game they will do it all the time. Thank god DICE is awesome and will be offering all this for freeeee!

  • Badger3k

I paid $50 for the Playstation Plus subscription – how is that more than $50 for elite?  Glad I’m not buying COD anymore.

I assume they will still be charging $15 for each of the new maps packs they will be releasing as well?  If so, then you can look forward to paying upwards to $200 in the first year (game, plus elite, plus 4 map packs estimated, plus tax).  Why, it’s positively cheap!

  • Badger3k

Well, that’s reading fail on my part – the DLC is included.  If you buy all the maps anyway, then you save maybe $10 based on four releases.  Knew I should have re-read before I posted.

Elite comes with dlc dumbass read before u write

I played Battlefield 3, and it sucked. Newer engine, I’ll give you that. Unless you’re using a sniper rifle (which 75% of Battlefield players do) kills are more about luck than skill. There’s so much sway and recoil, that aiming is broken. In a shooter, if aiming your rifle is broken, then the whole game is broken.

Plus, I don’t see COD charging me $10.00 to play online, for having a rented copy. Dedicated servers, or not.

I’ve played BOTH games… Battlefield, won’t be taking over anything. Look at the most played games, on Xbox live. COD Black Ops, is still #1. The only reason Battlefield is #2, is because MW3 wasn’t out when the last list came out.
