Commodore Is Making an Up-to-Date Computer in a Very Familiar Old Case

We’ve all seen the photos, YouTube videos, and, if we’re lucky, hardware that comes about when some devoted retro tech enthusiast stuffs modern insides into beloved retro-style casings. But what if the maker of beloved retro things did the stuffing for us, and sold the product to the public?
That, anyway, seems to be the premise behind the Commodore PC64, made by Commodore USA, which features “an exact replica of the original beige chassis Commodore C64,” but equipped with (deep breath): “an Intel Atom 525 CPU with NVIDIA Ion2 graphics, 4GB DDR3 memory, 1TB Hdd, HDMI, DVD/CD optical drive (Blu-ray optional), dual-link DVI, six USB ports, integrated 802.11n WiFi, bluetooth and a 6-in-1 media card reader.”
If all goes according to plan, you’ll be able to buy a PC64 around Christmas; pricing details aren’t yet available.
