Software Fault Could Cause Automobile Cruise Control to Not Shut Off, Triggers Massive Recall

Recommended Videos

Auto manufacturer Jaguar has announced that a recently discovered software fault in their X-Type vehicles could cause the cruise control to remain engaged regardless of driver action. Braking or hitting the “cancel” button would have no effect in this scenario, and only turning off the car will shut down the cruise control. The company has issued a huge 17,678 car recall, but also stresses that the problem has as yet caused no crashes.

The company said that all affected X-Type drivers have been informed. Once in the hands of Jaguar professionals, a simple software fix should solve the problem. So, if you’re reading this post on your phone in an X-Type, you might want to pull over right now. You also might want to stop driving and reading blogs, though we’re grateful that you’d be willing to risk your life for Geekosystem.
