Dark Side of the Moon Remade as Chiptune Album

Musician and programmer Brad Smith has recreated the entirety of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in chiptune music. According to Smith, every note of this 8-bit tour de force could be produced by a standard North American NES sound chip.

    These are pretty cool but definitely nothing new. My age is showing but used to do stuff like this all time back in the 80s on the Commodore 64 using SIDPlayer. Back when you could pick up sheet music in almost any electronics department. Grab the latest pop single and rush home to spend hours plugging it into SIDPlayer. It always amazed me what could be accomplished with only 3 voices. I remember spending years trying to find the transcription for the guitar solo at the end of Stairway to Heaven. I miss those days…
