More Doom and Gloom: Demonoid Domains Up for Sale

If you’re still holding out hope that Demonoid would be resurrected from the digital ashes like a magnet link that points toward fourteen RAR files of a phoenix, you may want to save that hope for something else: The three Demonoid top-level domains, Demonoid.me, Demonoid.com, and Demonoid.ph, were put up for sale on the domain marketplace Sedo.

At the time of this writing, however, I could not reproduce the page where potential buyers make offers for those domains — so either someone already bought them, or they were removed from the marketplace once word got around that they appeared for sale.

TorrentFreak pointed out that getting control of the domains while people are still checking in to see if the site will magically return would be a pretty savvy move on someone who wants to maintain some of the site’s traffic. However, that would only really work if the new buyers could provide some kind of similar service that would maintain a portion of the community.

Though the sale seems to have vanished as quickly as it was discovered, if the sites were made available, that’s another nail in the Demonoid coffin. It’s entirely possible the community can rise up somewhere else, or possibly even wrangle the domain back from whomever might’ve bought it and pick up where they left off, but that’s looking less likely with each new tidbit of news.

It should get bought up by a legit streaming service~

Which would likely ruin the community it had before. Believe me I would like to see it rise in some decent form but that is not going to happen.

.me is a Montenegro domain extension, so why are the Ukraine (.ua domain) authorities involved? Is it me or is there something going on and this is just a smoke screen, or am I becoming one of the internet loonies with tinfoil hats?

I believe their servers were hosted in Ukraine, and they were taken down (even though they broke no Ukrainian laws) as a good faith move toward the FBI.

This is outrageous that demonoid be attacked by a DDOS Attack big enough that only our government could conjour up. Then take em down with it. Why is it that they must take away the fundamentals that that grand USA was founded on…………..Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Why dont they focus on keeping murders, rapists and real criminals in the world at bay instead of those of us who really enjoy watching movie and listening to music. Yet they act like we are the ones building bombs and shit in our bathtubs

I cannot understand why governments are pretending that file sharing is illegal.  It is not.  Nor is it piracy.  This is more of governments allowing industry of dictate “law”.  Music sales are likely down because the products are so poor.
