The Entire PlayStation Network (PSN) Rebranding as Sony Entertainment Network (SEN)

Move over, venerable PlayStation Network, for Sony doesn’t dig the sound of you anymore, and you shall forever be known as the Sony Entertainment Network (until Sony doesn’t like the sound of that and changes it to something else). Starting tomorrow, February 7, all PSN accounts will be rebranded as SEN accounts. This shouldn’t affect users too much, other than having to associate everything they thought they once knew with the SEN. Sony assures its users that this change is only a name change, and users’ account information will stay the same.

As one might expect, the transition’s aim is to give users one Sony account across all Sony services, attempting to make life a little easier. If you only ever deal with your PlayStation 3 or PSP and are wondering what other services Sony has that requires them to roll everything up into one brand, there’s actually quite a bit: Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, and Personal Space, to name a few.

The rebranding will affect PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita, but the PSP will be left out of the transition for now (and possibly forever). The change will force users to accept a new terms of service, and if they do not, they will not be able to access their account — standard procedure.
