Replace YouTube Troll Comments with Richard Feynman Quotes
by Robert Quigley | 4:58 pm, February 4th, 2010

The YouTube comments section is, in a phrase, one of the wretcheder hives of scum and villainy out there. There’s something about virtually unmoderated conversations with virtually anonymous people next to user-generated content on one of the most-trafficked sites on the Internet that creates angry, racist, profanity spewing monsters seemingly out of thin air. In short, it’s not exactly Reddit.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all of those negative, thoughtless comments were replaced with, say, the witty musings of brilliant, multitalented physicist Richard Feynman? (R.I.P.) Why, it’s funny you should mention that:
FeynTube is a GreaseMonkey script that:
transforms the atrocity that YouTube comments are into reasonable and smart quotes that are actually readable without causing unexpected damage to your enjoyment, mind, temper and any vital organs (because with YouTube comments, you never know). (Greasemonkey, in turn, is a very nice Firefox extension that allows you to customize webpages.)
FeynTube achieves this accomplishment by doing the only conceivable thing: removing all YouTube comments (from your display, unfortunately they’re still on the servers) and replacing them with actual quotes from famous nobel-price physicist and elaborate skirt chaser Richard Feynman.
You can download it on German computer scientist Julien Oster‘s website.
