A Foxconn manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China experienced an explosion today at 7:20pm local time, damaging what local press report to be an iPad 2 manufacturing site and killing at least 2 workers and injuring at least 16. Not much is currently known about the cause of the explosion, though MIC Gadget reports that it occurred when workers were switching shifts. This incident will surely affect
the sales of iPad 2 significantly. It is no secret that there is a scarcity on
this device but even when the situation doesn’t favor Apple, the sales of other
tablets don’t seem to catch up. After what happened to the Foxconn plant,
someone has to be accountable for this accident.
