In anticipation of the forthcoming release of The Bourne Legacy, we here at Geekosystem felt we could help enable your paranoia by giving you a few tips on how to survive in the field while not only avoiding your pursuers (that you definitely have), but also turning the tables on them when necessary.
-
No. 1 | Get a Bug-Out Bag
A bug-out bag is the must-have survival kit. Standard gear included in these kinds of bags are first aid kits, non-perishable food, water purification supplies, duct tape, a compass, and a variety of other equipment depending on the situation. This is what you grab when the unexpected happens.
-
No. 2 | Avoid Crowds
Conventional wisdom tells us to try and lose followers in a crowd. The problem is we don’t always know who is trying to track us. The simplest way to detect followers is to avoid crowds. It’s much easier to catch someone actively tracking your movements when there are only three people nearby.
-
No. 3 | Blend In
If you’re looking to learn something, your best bet is to dress the part and behave like you belong. No one puts too much thought into a messenger with some questions. If the information is to be obtained by observation, it can’t hurt to look exactly like a tourist when you’re in a tourist trap. Dressing the part isn’t always available if you’re also avoiding danger, but even the smallest touches can provide the greatest benefits.
-
No. 4 | Don't Get Emotionally Involved
The fastest way to a blundered plan is to get emotional. Regardless of the details, emotions tend to cloud judgment and override our logical impulses. Avoiding the kind of things that might trigger emotions is just as important to your survival as any gear you might pack. This isn’t always possible, of course, but if you can bypass hazards, then you only have to worry about the surprises.
-
No. 5 | Be Resourceful
When all else fails, there are actually still options available. Nearly everything you can find in a household kitchen can quickly become a tool or weapon if required. Most problems don't require one specific tool. There are hundreds of potential solutions to any problem when you begin to think about what the odds and ends surrounding you could be used to accomplish. Weight, height, and shape can be quickly assessed in order to instantly meet your needs.
