Morphinominal! The Green Ranger to Shatter World Record for Breaking Pine Boards While Skydiving

Since retiring from his role as the green-hued leader of the Power Rangers, actor Jason David Frank – better known as Tommy Oliver on the TV series — has been a busy, busy man indeed. Aside from instructing others in the ways of karate, busting skulls in the mixed martial arts arena, and pretty much living up to his erstwhile on-camera persona of “karate-chopping bad boy,” Frank enjoys attempting to shatter world records just as much as his opponents’ ribs in the ring. Later this month, Frank is looking to break the world record for the number of pine boards broken while skydiving. Which is seriously an actual record that exists.

Frank’s official Facebook fan page put the world on notice that he’ll attempt to shatter the board-busting record on January 17th at Texas’ Skydive Spaceland. Like any self-respecting record attempt, it will be filmed and judged by Guinness World Records with the video to be posted later on YouTube. That’s assuming there’s even a cameraman coming back alive from the event since we all know that the force of a punch from the Green Ranger creates shockwaves powerful enough to annihilate anything within a 50-mile radius.

The current record holder for this stunt is Clifford J. Crandall, with two broken pine boards under his belt and a place in history. Much respect for Crandall, but unless television has lied to us, we have to believe Frank has got this one in the bag. If he really wanted to, there’s no doubt in our minds that Frank could just as easily karate chop an entire pine tree down the middle midair and set the bar impossibly high for anybody else.

In fact, we really have to assume this is just practice for Frank’s next world-record shattering event, in which he will set the record for breaking the faces of 10 Putty Patrol goons and Rita Repulsa while bungee jumping.

Ever notice that the green ranger (or white Ranger) is never in costume in the same shot as the rest of the rangers? Both the Green Ranger and White Ranger were from completely different Japanese Super Sentai shows and are the product of editing. Cracked did a great article about it.

  • DouglasJ

Nah, the WHITE ranger is from a completely different Japanese Super Sentai show. Green, no. He is the brother of the Red Zyuranger.

i think he is doing what ever he can do to stay in the lime light, frank 15mins is over pushing that half hour mark is going to get you killed.

  • anonymous

he should do it in full costume and paint putties on the boards!

  • Nameless

I like how they used a cosplayer for the photo.

Green ranger was from the same Japanese show Zyuranger and as DouglesJ said was red ranger’s brother. White ranger wasn’t though. Saban shot a lot of original footage or season 2-3. Much of season 2 especially the second half was filmed by Saban and not using any Zyuranger footage as they had run out. The first half mainly before the white ranger appeared were filmed by Toei for Saban and not taken from Zyuranger. though when they could they used footage of the white ranger alone from Dairanger.

The green ranger was never the leader of the Power Rangers. Jason the Red Ranger was Leader, it wasn’t until Tommy became the White Ranger that he took over the team’s leadership role.

Steven Romano: “Derp derp, GREEN-HUED LEADER OF THE POWER RANGERS, derp derp derp…”

…is all I could focus on. How could ANYONE possibly f**k that up who has ANY idea who the Power Rangers are?

  • Dart7304@gmail.com

You do realize that he doesn’t need “15min of fame”? At the age of 18 he had bought and operated a martial arts school, now runs one of the top Karate schools in the country, is a 7th degree black belt, created his own world-recognized Karate form, is in the World Karate Hall of Fame, has won Master of the Year multiple times, and in his
new MMA career he has defeated all of his opponents with first round
wins by submission, TKO, and KO. The man is one of the most skilled
martial artists in America. Breaking boards in the air will NOT be a
    challenge to him.

Who do you think Tommy was before the White Ranger?… Green.

“Since retiring from his role as the green-hued leader of the Power Rangers…” The article implies the green ranger was a leader. Wrong. Otis is correct.

In the pic above, his cosplay gloves aren’t the same green as the rest of the costume. :/

  • Benjamin

    Greatest. Comment. EVER!

  • Bane

Red Ranger = Leader. End of Story. Tommy even gave him that gold vest thing because he was the leader. Only once Jason retired was Tommy able to lead.

  • BlackStar

then you must not be into the sistas… shes a dime

  • BlackStar

Just realized that Link does the same thing in Zelda…..

  • right!

holy crap. that’s the most awesome comment in the history of smart alec-y comments. i nearly cried.

  • Sentai is better

actually the truth of the matter is, JDF was the red ranger in the MMPR pilot. then they gave it to Austin. But Saban like JDF so much he brought him back. thats why He is in more incarnations of the american version that any other former PR.

LOL I was like daf- Ohhhh xD epic win right there

  • Tim

I thought it was because the people who watch Power Rangers like him more than any of the other ones (except the pink ranger girl, but she has an actual hollywood career)

  • LostSonofKrypton

It also implies that he retired after being green, as if that was his only color, instead the forty five other ranger colors he had

  • Anonymous

lol he means the original yellow ranger. the asian. shes dead literally.

  • Anonymous

Well I don’t know that i’d call it an actual hollywood career…Straight to video and skinimax doesn’t really tell people you made it

  • Anonymous

Is there a point? cause most likely they weren’t on the show either

  • Chiryder

Umm. No he wasn’t. He auditioned for the role. But, the pilot that was shot (not “Day of the Dumpter”) had Austin St. John in it.

  • Chiryder

truth be told they weren’t (if you look closely). But, they were usually darker.

  • Chiryder

    lol…it’s not funny.

  • Anonymous

You are probably thinking of that other Saban show, VR Troopers. It had a talking dog and the zordon character was a black dude instead. The pilot had jason frank in it but was replaced with someone else when the series came out

  • BlackStar

you are my new friend…..thank god for people who actually know stuff by research.

  • BlackStar

i guess you didn’t see the mmpr movie, it was awesome in theaters.

  • Cinder/Glacius’ Master

Correct, the pilot at the time was called Cybertron.
