And then it was over.  The wait was over, the show was over, and the speculation on how it would all end was over.  But the endless questions, debate, and critique – in true LOST fashion, that’s definitely not over.

Well, my fellow LOST fans, we’ve arrived at the final destination. With the conclusion of last night’s episode there is only two and a half hours of LOST left to be viewed. It’s hard to believe that after six seasons of mysteries, cliff hangers, love quadrangles, and next-morning-water-cooler-chatter it’s all about to end. But let’s dry our tears and enjoy a recap of the penultimate episode of LOST.

Last night’s episode, “What They Died For,” brought LOST fans the last few reluctant steps to the edge of the LOST cliff. It was an action packed episode, so let’s jump right into the off-island action.

While there are many mysteries still to be answered on LOST, few mysteries have fans begging for answers as the history of the Man in Black. After a week long hiatus, which gave fans a chance to catch their breath, LOST was back in all of its glory last night. With only three episodes left in the series, The Candidate brought fans a few painful and reluctant steps closer to the end.

Hugo “Hurley” Reyes has always been one of the most beloved characters on LOST for a few different reasons.  Sure, he brings the comic relief and is the kind of guy every fan wants as a best friend, but he also has a connection to the island that provides the background for some of the show’s greatest mysteries (the numbers and the ability to see the dead, just to name a few).  So it’s no surprise that last night’s Hurley-centered episode had funny moments, was extremely heartwarming, and offered glimpses into how LOST will wrap up.

Some of LOST’s best episodes ever are based around everyone’s favorite Scotsman, Desmond David Hume.  Past popular episodes include Season 3’s “Flashes Before Your Eyes” and Season 4’s “The Constant,” both of which explore Desmond’s special abilities.  Well, add last night’s episode to the list of great Desmond-centered episodes. “Happily Ever After” is the 11^th episode of LOST’s final season and after an extended hiatus, Desmond made his long-awaited return to the island.

LOST slowed down a bit last tonight to take viewers deep into the life of one of the show’s most mysterious characters, Richard Alpert. Prior to “Ab Aeterno” (which is Latin for ‘from eternity’) we knew a few things about Richard. We knew he’s immortal, he’s a sort of advisor to Jacob, he came to the island on the Black Rock, and he’s got the most amazing eyelashes that ever belonged to a man. What we didn’t know was why Richard is eternally 35, what his relationship truly is with Jacob, and why he was on The Black Rock. Last night’s episode brought us those answers and more:
