This Guy Muay Thais the Hell Out of This Poor Banana Tree [Video]

When you’re in ridiculously good shape and possess a large amount of Muay Thai martial arts skill, the obvious thing to do with the combination you’re lucky to have is to let loose on a banana tree. I mean, banana trees are jerks, right?

Right.

Bananas don’t grow on trees! If this were an actual tree, it would be impressive, but its not.  So it’s not. Bananas grow on an herbaceous plant (herb), which have no woody stem above ground.  He’s not breaking a tree down.  It’s just a stalk… I doubt this thing could have even held his weight.  Now… If he turns on those palm trees behind him…

I weep for thee, banana tree.

Actually, Enthusiast is right.  Bananas are a type of grass.  I used to have them growing in my backyard.  The palm trees would definitely give him a rougher time, though not as much as an oak.

Banana trees are frequently used in Muay Thai training. They are stiff enough to function as a hard contact, but give enough to not injure the fighter. A natural Southeast Asian punching bag. Their primary purpose is to deaden the nerves in the shins of young fighters. If you kick one of those bad boys 100 times with each leg every day, smashing your shin on someone else’s shin doesn’t hurt so bad in a fight.
