I do know that memes started on 4chan long before reddit was popular, and most of the popular memes seen today originally came from 4chan, however, once reddit became more popular, a lot of people began reposting memes on the reddit forums, and some even made their own. After people began posting these memes on the now highly popularized reddit, the memes themselves became hugely popular. So most originally come from 4chan, but were made more popular through reddit. In the end does it really matter? A meme is a meme, you either like it or you don’t, that should be enough.
