Hulu Is in Talks to Bring Community Back to Life for a Sixth Season!

Now, about that "and a movie"...

When the official announcement of Community‘s cancelation came through, I (and approximately infinity other fans) tweeted to Dan Harmon asking if Netflix had called yet. Cult shows like Community are a perfect fit for digital platforms, and it looks like Hulu might grab this one.

Nothing is firm yet, but Vulture says that Hulu is in talks with Sony Pictures TV, Community‘s production company, to give the show another 13-episode season. While “talks” are still far from a deal, Hulu already has the rights to stream existing Community episodes, so they’d be a great home for the series’ continuation.

As Deadline points out, Sony has brought a few shows back from the dead either on their original networks or, in the case of Damages, in a deal with DirecTV. This could be great for Hulu, too, as it would definitely convince me to put down some cash to sign up again, since it sounds like the show will wind up on Hulu Plus.

Then, we can all celebrate.
