Instagram Now Has Profiles Which Are Basically Just Image-Filled Facebook Ones

Recommended Videos

Instagram, known worldwide as That App Folks Use When Taking Pictures of Food, has just added profiles on the web that will showcase users’ recent photos. For the most part, this just provides an easy place to point folks that really want to see every meal you’ve ever had since downloading the app, and maybe a sunset or two. Amusingly, the profiles are pretty obviously duplicates of the standard Facebook ones.

In a way, it makes sense. Facebook does own Instagram now. On the other hand, making them so obviously similar feels wrong somehow. That hasn’t stopped Instagram from copying the majority of the user interface, down to the profile picture versus cover photo placement. Here’s a bit from the company’s blog about it:

Your web profile features a selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram. In addition, you can follow users, comment & like photos and edit your profile easily and directly from the web.

Hooray for yet another way to concern ourselves with a social media platform! We didn’t have enough of those. At least we’ll totally get to see folks perform some potential lawbreaking by taking pictures of their voting ballots.
