iOS 5 Has Secret Autocorrect Keyboard Bar That You Can Enable

Instead of the once hidden, now officially confirmed bugs that are causing battery issues for iOS 5 users, the operating system contains something else that is hidden, but helpful. After performing a few simple steps using iBackupBot, users can unlock an autocorrect keyboard bar for regular use, seen to the left.

  1. Download iBackupBot
  2. Backup your iOS device in iTunes
  3. Open iBackupBot, then find and load the backup
  4. Navigate to Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboard.plist and open the file (Note: If your software isn’t registered, you’ll have to press cancel in order to open the file)
  5. Add in the code: <key>KeyboardAutocorrectionLists</key><string>YES</string>
  6. Save your changes, then restore from backup using iBackupBot

If done correctly, you should now have an autocorrect keyboard bar in iOS 5. Happy autocorrecting!

It should be noted that the bar is kind of bad. First of all you have to press confirm after every single word, secondly the bar covers up the next box in some apps, thirdly the little up arrow on the right just crashes whatever app is running.

Never mind what I said. DON’T DO THIS. DON’T EVER DO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. You can’t disable it, and if you try, you’ll end up corrupting something and none of your backups will restore.
