iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II Drop Test

SquareTrade Warranties, which you may remember from such warranties as that HDTV you ordered from Amazon, or that smart phone you bought after you accidentally dropped the previous one into the toilet, did a little wince-inducing sleuthing and performed a comparison of the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S II, but rather than compare how well they run JavaScript, the team compared how the phones fared when dropped onto a hard surface. Each phone was put through three drop tests: One from waist height, one from shoulder height, and one from waist height but intentionally dropped on the screen, all of which can be seen on video below.

Though everyone you know assured you the phone was surprisingly resilient before you made your purchase, the iPhone 4S showed anything but resilience, with the case immediately showing significant damage with the very first drop. The shoulder height drop actually fared better, as the phone landed on one of its corners, which seemed to be able to withstand the impact to some degree. The screen drop, as you can see from the above picture, was devastating.

The Galaxy S II fared well all around, only taking comparatively minimal damage, even when dropped directly on its screen.
