John Mayer has a weird sense of humor. Apparently he also had a deadline that he forgot about for the music video to his latest single, “Paper Doll.” So what’s an unbelievably famous musician with a weird sense of humor and encroaching deadline to do? Collaborate with an Internet meme for maximum ridiculosity, of course. Enter Joanna Rohrback of Prancercise, LLC, and let the magic unfold.
If this video hadn’t been launched on John Mayer’s official Vevo channel, I probably would have assumed that Joanna did it all herself. It’s full of her characteristic charm, including lyrics that dissolve across the screen in time with her prancing, odd fade-to-white cuts, and a delightfully out-of-place endorsement of her son Jarrad’s fertility. No telling whether or not he’s actually single, but those who are not pregnant or nursing probably should consult him anyway just to be on the safe side.

They just released a music video I did for John Mayer’s “Paper Doll” They introduce it as Advanced Prancercise®which I assure you it’s not..however, they just probably wanted to differentiate it from my real program..I really enjoyed doing it and applaud John for being unique in this presentation..not just another Hollywood cookie cutter version!
Yes, thank god Mayer decided not to do a cookie cutter version of Prancercising and instead consulted the expert. We can only assume she’s referring to Thor’s version, which, as you can see, just didn’t have the same level of technical skill that only Joanna can provide:
- At least he didn’t do a Harlem Shake
- Or a Rage comic, because those are so passé
- He probably won’t advertise it on Twitter because that’s passé too now
