LEGO wants to help you unleash your inner Ted Mosby by offering a set specifically designed to, well, let you design. LEGO Architecture Studio is a 1,210-piece set that doesn’t include instructions on how to build anything in particular. What it does have is a guide explaining basic architectural concepts. It also has so many white bricks.
Budding architects and LEGO go together like two cliched things that go well together, so it’s a little surprising this hasn’t happened sooner. The real appeal to this set for anyone looking to develop some real skills is the 272-page guide, which according to the LEGO site includes, “tips, techniques, features, and intuitive hands-on exercises endorsed by leading design houses.”
The 73 different shapes of brick included are primarily white, but some are clear. This is probably to keep focus on the designs themselves rather than color, though you can always add some of your LEGO in there to liven things up.
LEGO Architecture Studio comes with a recommended age of 16 and over, but if you have (or are) a child younger than that showing an interest in architecture and building, this is probably a good way to embrace that interest. For $149.99, you could consider it an investment in the future, or at the very least, an investment in a pretty sweet looking LEGO set.
