Watch a Lioness Play With a Child Through Glass [Video]

It’s always so amusing to see humongous cats that can murder us and eat our entire body weight in a couple of minutes be adorable and act like regular house cats. Even if that glass wasn’t there separating the lioness’ claws from severely injuring that kid.

I’m not sure if it’s playing or if it’s wondering how to reach the tasty morsel…

Even big (and wild) cats love to play.  Its horrible how some animals are treated.  Sure, many large and/or wild animals are extremely dangerous – but so are many people, either intentionally or accident or poor judgement.  Its unfortunate such an animal couldn’t be allowed to play with a child, but there’s plenty of vids out there where they play with a dog or a deer or something else that could otherwise be a meal.  I’ve observed and learned many emotions and ‘tells’ from my animals, and I’ve always encouraged them to recognize they are successfully telling me what they think by reacting the same way in those circumstances.  At least with my animals, they love repetition, it makes them happy when we do the same things in the morning or at night and when we feed them and when we play with them – through the repetition and kindness they learn to expect what is happening and to participate in it if they want.  I hope someday, perhaps not in my lifetime, we’ll figure out a way to better communicate with animals.  Perhaps a computer (like an iPhone) worn as a collar that would give them the expected feedback in a given circumstance, and broadcast audio/visual or even speech to humans around them.  Some of that could be done now, though programming the accuracy of the computer would be a challenge. If  you know animals though, it shouldn’t be hard for you to figure half a dozen or so ‘tells’ that if you saw you’d know what it means, like a dog whimpering in front of a door asking to be let outside urgently versus just standing by the door asking to be let outside – one is urgent because they either need to go potty or are excited to go outside and the other is less urgent…
