Long Exposure of an Airplane Takeoff

Wow. Some debate on Reddit as to whether the gut-bendingly steep angle of incline here is for real, but the general consensus seems to be that it is.

I’ve seen this picture before. Some of the apparent takeoff angle has to do with the perspective, but most of it has to do with the takeoff being at a UPS hub. These aren’t passenger planes, where people might get upset if this sort of thing happens; these are UPS air freighters, and the only people on board are the air crews.

The only thing I don’t understand about this is that it looks like the plane is fairly large, but at the same time, the distance between the right turn and where it starts to ascend doesn’t look long enough. That being said, I’ve been on military planes landing and taking off from Iraq that feel more like a roller coaster than a plane ride. They called them “combat landings” and “combat takeoffs” and I imagine it looked something like this, along with some hard lefts and rights mixed in.
