The New RoboCop Looks Like Batman Without the Cape and Pointy Ears

Everybody loves Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, right? Ok, maybe not; but can we at least agree that everybody’s seen them? Of course we can.

It’s with that idea in mind that we present you with photos of the armor from the upcoming reboot of RoboCop, which is currently filming in Toronto, and on track to hit theaters next summer. Supposedly the first shots of the new suit, the new movie trades in the rounded chrome plates of 80′s RoboCop for a sleeker, black suit that… Wait a second: Didn’t that suit come with a cape?

While there are some obvious differences – RoboCop gets a tinted visor, and lacks Batman’s signature cape and pointy ears – it does seem that the costume designers for the new movie took their cues from one of the world’s biggest comic book blockbusters. Not that you can blame them: How many ways are there to make high-tech armor that kind of looks like it could be real but also looks futuristic? Like the original RoboCop, the new movie is supposed to have a pseudo present-day setting, (It’s set in 2028) which means everything in the world should have a somewhat familiar, albeit high-tech feeling: I guess that includes the non-existant cyborgs.

According to Comingsoon.net, that is Joel Kinnaman, star of the film, sporting the suit, confirming that the armor is RoboCop’s and not some random cyborg villain. Like the original RoboCop, the remake follows the story of Detroit police officer Alex Murphy, who is augmented with robotic parts after being critically injured in the line of duty. The movie co-stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson.

So here’s the question: Now that you see the resemblance, does dressing RoboCop like Batman make you want to see this movie more or less?

That suit sucks. Hopefullf there will be another version to look forward to. I am afraid they are going to mess up Robocop. (Didn’t Robocop 3 do that enough already?) To the cast and crew, all I have to say is “B*tches leave”.

This is sad.Seeing my childhood hero wearing recycled a Batman is absolutely depressing.Anything to make a buck.First they killed Dragon Ball Z with that live action garbage then the Aang The Last Air Bander.Oh and how can I forget the abomination that is still in the works.

Alien Ninja Turtles, who may or may not be related the Krang but I digress. This is the final nail in the coffin for these iconic characters. They will be modernized in such a way that they will be unrecognizable to those of us who watched their shows as the faithful fans we are.

The only power we do have is the ability to make sure that these movies bomb. That’s the only language these big Hollywood studio execs understand.Bad word of mouth will kill this film franchise.

This makes the movie so much less appealing. He doesn’t look robotic, just a guy in an armored suit. And he doesn’t look like robo cop, is it too hard to make him look like robo cop? He looks like batman cop

The obvous question – how do you take what was essentially already dumbed down entertainment, ultraviolent and action based, and make it even dumber!? If Total Recall was anything to go by, this will be dreadful!
Dont get me wrong, Robocop was fantastic for what it was, I loved it, but this time they’ll probably take out the ultraviolence and the bleak detroit near future angles, the very things that made Robocop great.

That is so lame. Could they not at least TRY to make the remake better then the original? Now I know they will not even come close. Looking to be a big fail.
