PSA: OpenOffice 3.2 is Out

OpenOffice, the free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Office, has just released OpenOffice 3.2, its latest upgrade.

Among its other proponents, local and national governments have taken a shine to OpenOffice; it’s big in India and Singapore, and it’s the official office suite of the French military. There have been more than 3,000,000 downloads of OpenOffice since its release in 2002.

The upgrade boasts a number of new features:

The SlashDot summary:

The new features include faster start up times; improved compatibility with open standard (ODF) and proprietary file formats; improvements to all components, particularly the Calc spreadsheet, with over a dozen new or enhanced features; and the Chart module (usable throughout OpenOffice.org) has had a usability makeover as well as offering new chart types.
