Buckbeak, of Harry Potter origins, can probably bee seen primarily as the steed of Sirius Black, although he has also belonged to Rubeus Hagrid and Harry himself. Buckbeak is a hippogriff, a largely horse-like creature with the head, wings, and front feet of an eagle.
Buckbeak was instrumental in freeing Sirius Black from the clutches of Dementors, beginning his second escape. Sirius and Buckbeak were both wanted criminals, although Sirius wasn't facing death for scratching Draco Malfoy, merely imprisonment for murdering Peter Pettigrew.
