Sha Ka Ree is the Eden of Vulcan mythology. Sybok, Vulcan half-brother of the near-legendary Ambassador Spock, thought he had located the planet close to the center of the galaxy, and that in visiting it he would find god and the origin of all life. The "god" that he found there was in fact a very powerful being that had been exiled to the supposed "Sha Ka Ree" for instigating galactic civil war thousands of years before. Sybok sacrificed himself to buy the time needed for the crew of the Enterprise to escape and destroy the entity.
