The Cult of the Damned are the still living ground troops of the Scourge of Warcraft III and World of Warcraft fame. Originally, they could be called demon worshippers, since the undead Plague and subsequent Lich King armies were being bankrolled by demons from the Twisting Nether, the ultimate bad guys of nearly every Warcraft conflict.
However, when the Lich King told Kil'Jaeden he could shove it where the sun don't shine, the cult stuck with their cold and clammy leader. With the promise of wealth, power, and the respect that comes with them, the Cult maintains a membership that sees the state of undeath as a great honor, but knows that living soldiers are useful to the Lich King's cause as spies and recruiters.
