If ever there was a group of people who really needed some kind of organization for the improvement of their lives, it would be the brave or foolish and frequently freakish souls who decide to make a living as criminal henchmen in Gotham City. For the majority of the villains in the DCU are thieves, power hungry business moguls, mob bosses, scientists, wizards, or simply don't need henchmen because they are nine feet tall, weigh half a ton, and killed Superman that one time.  Working that game is just a matter of staying useful to your boss, and knowing when to cut your losses when a job goes sour.

But in Gotham City, the villains are all insane. Diagnosed, even.

Got an identical twin? Does your name sound like a species of bird? Have a rudimentary knowledge of chemistry, particularly as regards to hallucinogenic compounds? Gotham City crime can find you a job. Villains will hire you just because you look good in a walrus suit.

And they'll kill you just because killing is the only thing that makes them feel emotion anymore.  Or because the coin came up the wrong way.  Or because it's funny.

And even if you do survive the villains, guess what? There is a vigilante running around who won't think twice about torturing you for information. Even the police who aren't crooked will just look the other way. Good luck.
