In Who Framed Roger Rabbit, toons and humans live side-by-side, mostly in harmony, but not always. Formerly a toon-friendly detective agency, with plenty of closed cases under its belt, Valiant & Valiant was reduced to just one Valiant after Teddy was killed by a mysterious toon. This leaves only Eddie Valiant, now with a significant toon-related chip on his shoulder, to be called upon to investigate a possible affair between Mavin Acme (yes, that Acme) and Jessica Rabbit (wife of comedy star Roger Rabbit) by R. K. Maroon, the owner of Maroon Studios and Roger's boss.
So now that Eddie Valiant basically hate his clients but needs the money (to buy more alcohol at his girlfriend's speakeasy), he has to start hanging around Jessica's nightclub gig, and Marvin Acme winds up dead the night that Roger finds out Jessica's been cheating on him... Eddie is the stalwart bunny's only place to turn. Because he was framed. (Not a spoiler.) Roger consistently pisses him off throughout the movie, but by the end Eddie finds his lost "sensa humah" and becomes a friend of the toons once again.
(Fun fact: Eddie Valiant was almost played by Bill Murray. As awesome as Bob Hoskins is, man, Bill Murray? Can I watch that movie in a dream?)
