While not exactly Father of the Year, Professor Henry Jones, Sr. (and Sir Sean Connery's memorable turn as the character) is easily one of the reasons why Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was so memorable. Professor Jones, the foremost authority on Holy Grail lore, had been captured by the Nazis as bait for Indy so that he might lead them to the Grail.
Because Nazis obviously have nothing better to do. We learn that Henry didn't exactly have the most hands on style of parenting, but that he does love his son dearly. Both their fine minds win the day, as they discover the Grail and choose to let it go as they witness their enemies' demise. They ride off into the sunset together, bantering away. But hey, father-son relationships take work. His son became Indiana Jones. That's pretty good, as far as we're concerned.
