Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (Broom, in the movies), was a paranormal expert, an advisor to FDR during WWII, and the man who discovered and raised a young demon known to the mortal world as Hellboy, and to the spiritual realm as Anung Un Rama, the Beast of the Apocalypse.
It should be credited entirely to Professor Bruttenholm that Hellboy himself actually likes Earth, humanity, and the current reality quite a bit, and stubbornly, insubordinately, flat out refuses to take on his true nature and bring about the end of creation.
